Andrew Perkins has been scrimshanding (a scrimshaw artist) since 1980 when he happened upon a kindly gentleman from Portugal who took him under his wing and patiently taught him this timeless craft. From then, Andrew has been scrimshawing off and on while doing other things such as being a tool and die grinder, a machine assembler, a computer repair person, a parent, and an author.
