This artwork was originally "flash" art, the art that tattoo artists use to make tattoos. By scanning and shrinking the art you'd like to put on a piece of scrimshaw, you can easily transfer the basic design, and then commit it to ivory. This is a great tie-in with an art form that has sustained its popularity over the last several years, and can be applied in other ways as well. Part one will show you how to transfer the artwork from paper to ivory, while part two will show it being committed to ivory and finally colorized. Many tips in the narration. If you have any questions, or find it hard to hear, drop me a line at aperkins@scrimshaw.com and I'll see if I can put up a transcript.
